So the new iPods are out and you’re probably asking why in the world you should get one. After all, what’s so new about these gadgets that you should put the one you just bought 6 months ago in the drawer and shell out your hard earned cash for the latest, greatest, iPod whatever?
Easy. Apple is cool. Seriously, have you seen some of Steve Jobs’ sweaters? The man just screams stylistic grace. And then there’s the buildup, and the announcement, and the (wait for it) unveiling which are almost too much suspense for one consumer to take. Whatever Apple makes, it’s always presented accompanied by a dramatic tension that only a certain Vince McMahon could truly appreciate. Seriously, it’s an event!
But we have to give credit where it’s due, the products are good stuff, and the new ones aren’t just improved, they’re redesigned. They make up great names for these things at Apple too. The new iPod Touch (love that name – wonder if it does anything special when it plays a Barry White song) comes with something called a “Retina Display”. If that’s not enough to impress you this amazing gadget is even slimmer than before. I hear that it’s so slim you can now fit one of these things inside ITSELF!
The big question is how did they make something like the ipod Nano even smaller??? Seriously, where do I put this thing that I won’t lose it or step on it. Or lose it then step on it because I didn’t see it because I lost it? Know what I mean? Apple is actually bragging that the new Nano is “lighter” and “smaller”. Than what? An atom???
Anyway, in fairness to Apple I think they’re on to something here. These iPod things just might make it.
